Meta made a big move in May to purge offensive content from Facebook and Instagram in India. In order to remedy numerous policy infractions, the business deleted more than 15.6 million problematic pieces of content from Facebook and more than 5.8 million pieces from Instagram.

Complete Reports: 22,251 reports were sent to Facebook via the Indian grievance procedure.

• Accessory Tools: Meta offered tools in 13,982 cases so customers could take care of their problems on their own. These resources featured methods for reporting certain infractions, choices for self-remediation such as downloading data, and fixes for compromised accounts.
• Expert Evaluation: 5,583 complaints out of 8,269 reports requiring expert investigation were addressed by Meta. While not necessarily taken further, the remaining 2,686 reports were examined.

Activities and Reports on Instagram: – Total Reports: 14,373 reports were sent to Instagram through the Indian grievance system.

• Accessory Tools: 7,300 users received tools to help them with their problems.
• Expert Evaluation: Meta addressed 4,172 complaints out of 7,073 reports that were still pending action. Although the remaining 2,901 reports were examined, they may not have been followed up on.

Acquiescence with IT Regulations 2021: Meta removed almost 21 million pieces of content from india

Monthly compliance reports must be published by large digital platforms with more than 5 million users in accordance with the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021. In its report, Meta describes the steps it took to deal with information that violated community standards. These steps included taking down articles, images, videos, or comments, as well as notifying users about potentially upsetting content.
