The Datsun redi-GO and Renault Kwid, two recently released, highly popular A segment vehicles, appear to have struck a rough patch in September.

September Slump Kwid Sales Dip After Red-Hot

Kwid’s sales growth decreased by 1.5% during the month, compared to an 18.9% decline for redi-GO.

Datsun introduced redi-GO in May of this year, with a price tag of between Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 3.5 lakh. Renault debuted the Kwid in October of last year, with prices ranging from Rs 2.57 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh. A revised 1-liter version was introduced in August of the same year, September Slump Kwid Sales Dip After Red-Hot.

Hatchback vehicles under the Rs 3.5 lakh mark are included in the A class.

Sales of Redi-GO fell from 3,205 units in August to 2,598 units in September. Sales increased from 576 units in May to 2,925 units in June. In July, sales increased by an additional 34.7% to 3,940 units.

But since then, sales have been declining. It fell by 23% to 3,205 units in August and then by further 23.3% to 2,598 units.

June saw a significant 69% increase in sales for Kwid.

Renault sold 5,600 units in May, but by June, sales had increased to 9,459 units. From then on, the sales have increased consistently.

It went up to 9,897 units in July and then grew by 8.3% to 10,719 units in August.

But September saw a 1.5% decline in Kwid sales, at 10,558 units.

On the other hand, September has seen a tremendous 64% increase in the A class of autos 2016 as compared to the same quarter the previous year.

Sales in the A segment increased to 46,020 units from 28,061 units during the same period the previous year. September sales for the segment increased month over month by 16.3% over the previous month.

This came about as a result of strong September sales growth for the Hyundai Eon (12.9%) and the Maruti Suzuki Alto (32.7%). Col
