Current Share Market, August 14, 2024: The domestic equity indexes Nifty and Sensex are expected to open higher in today’s (August 14) session. Before Dalal Street opened at roughly 7:30 am, GIFT Nifty futures, a leading predictor of the Nifty 50 index, were up 64 points, or 0.26 percent, at 24,225.

Wall Street’s IT shares rise as global markets rise.

The Nasdaq finished higher at 17,192, up 2.43 percent, driven by IT firms, and Japan’s Nikkei 225 index was up 1.06 percent. Both the US and Asian markets were doing well. Here is a current glance at all of the major global indices:

  • MSCI Asia excluding Japan increased by 3.98 points, or 0.71%
  • Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 43 points, or 0.25 percent, at 17,217,
  • while Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 391 points, or 1.08 percent, at 36,623.
  • The Dow Jones increased 408 points, or 1.04 percent, at 39,765;
  • the South Korean KOSPI increased 25 points, or 0.96 percent, at 2,646;
  • the Nasdaq increased 407 points, or 2.42 percent, at 17,192;
  • S&P Global increased 90 points, or 1.68 percent.

However, domestic indexes showed a negative bias on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. The Sensex ended lower at 78,956, down 692 points or 0.87 percent, while the 50-scrip index closed at 24,139, down 208 points or 0.85 percent due to selling in stocks related to the financial and automotive sectors, including HDFC Bank, SBI, and Tata Motors. Apollo Hospitals, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, and Sun Pharma lead the healthcare industry, which had the most gainers in this regard.
